Runway was started as a tribute to the art, architecture and intellect in fashion; and as the founders of the group, we are wholly inspired by the world of fashion. We are planning a fashion show for October 18th 2008 on our campus in Urbana-Champaign called The Green House. The concept behind the show is to mix fashion's dramatics with the environment's sustainability. So, all the pieces featured on the show will be made ENTIRELY out of recyclable material. We are looking for people who would like to create pieces to be a part of the show. We have created a brief storyline that is the inspiration behind the show:

THE GREEN HOUSE
Looking at the state of the fashion industry, a group of fashion's greatest minds come together to establish a fashion house, The Green House, with values centered on environmental awareness. They mix high fashion's glamour and theatrics with the environment's sustainability to create avant garde pieces that shock their peers. The distinguishing factor of The Green House is that every creation is made entirely out of recyclable materials; and as a designer for this fashion house, every creation you make must uphold this standard.
Runway is looking for people who would like to create pieces to be featured on the show. The challenge is to take any recyclable materials, such as newspaper, packaging, plastic, aluminum, glass, etc., and create beautiful, high-fashion pieces with them. The creations can be anything from an entire outfit (dresses, suits, etc), to accessories, bathing suits, hats, shoes etc. Feel free to be as creative and original as you like, but remember, The Green House is a fashion house, so your creations must be fashion-forward, avant-garde, and wearable. KEEP IN MIND THAT YOUR CREATION WILL BE MODELED ON THE SHOW BY A TYPICAL 5'8-5'9 FASHION FIGURE.
