Brand new, just completed. Neck and headstock were hand made, then stained and polyurethaned for a rustic look. The Reposado cigar box (reposado means "rested" or "aged") which housed cigars in a prior life has a "pebbled" feel to it. It has been resurfaced a bit to give it a good look and feel.
The strings are nylon and lighter tension which makes plucking easier. The scale length is 20 inches, which allows for reaching across more frets. It's appropriate younger players or those with "older" stiffer hands. Tuning is E-A-D-G-B-E. The neck width at the nut is 47 mm.
The guitar has an internal 3 piezo pickup. The 3 sensor discs are placed strategically, one directly below the bridge and the other two above and below the strings for those players who like to "tap" or otherwise provide their own rhythm effects when playing.
The guitar has a one of a kind look. I have not seen this cigar box used in another guitar. It did generate a good bit of conversation over coffee, this last weekend, especially among the guitar playing and wood working folks.
